This year’s chosen variety, ‘Wild Violet’-wonder why I picked that one?-produced smaller ears, but they are delicious. If you’ve grown sweet corn in a small patch, you know you don’t get a lot of corn from it. My little sweet corn patch has given me almost 20 ears of corn this year. I picked a little over three pounds of green beans Monday, and the row I planted later hasn’t even started forming pods yet. The "Jonestown" addition includes a vintage barn with silo, equipment shed, pole barn, livestock shed with attached workshop (Glenn's man cave), and rental apartments. "55" is a fully-pastured tract with a spring-fed creek, historic hay barn and silo, livestock shed and small farm store. ![]() Over the years, changes and evolution of management practices have created a 'farm in progress.' Currently, the home place farm has expanded to include two other farms, 55+ acres added in December 2011 and 160 acres added in May 2016. Other property features: extensive perennial gardens, vegetable garden, and a variety of fruit-producing plants - yes, we can be self-sufficient if need be. Farm features: farm house open, pastureland timber land pole barns and smaller farm structures several natural springs catfish, bluegill, bass stocked, spring-fed pond and fabulous Blue Ridge Mountain views. Established in 1989, Mountain Glen Farm is a 180+ acre grass-fed beef cattle farming operation located in northern Rockbridge County in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. ![]()
